View of the island from gulf beach.
Gulf beach was pretty clean and calm.

Did 40 miles of the folks on spokes.
It was pretty devastating to see the damage along the coast.  i felt horrible riding through while people were still cleaning thier homes of sea soaked belongings.  I didnt want to look like a gauker, but i truly needed to see and learn from the structural damage caused by the power of nature.  silversands and west haven looked like they were hit pretty hard.  houses off of foundations, etc.

Our assistant bike marshals for the 70 mile training ride were ready, willing abd able to lead, support and smile for the entire ride. Thank you all...Yale cycle team riders for your support.  i hope the weather holds up so that we can ride till christmas!.

September view from compo

I posted a photo in august of a rainbow after a rain storm.  in that photo the rainbow ended at this spot from where i am taking the photo.

No pot of gold....just compo beach.

Larkin bridle trail.

Rode the trail mid october...pretty flat except for the street intersections with the trail. Total distance is about 11 miles each way.  there were about 3 locations where i needed to dismount due to water or steep inclines.

Getting colder

This is one of my favorite roads / workouts. This the view as i head back home. 6-8 miles of uphill left from this point.  this is usually mile mark 35.

the 25 mile finish line

It was a tough 25 miles with several hills along the way.
Quarter mile Tony now has a new nick name...."Quarter Century Tony!  you did it bud!!!
Jordan and Katie did an awesome job.... Eric & Ed did ok.......
We left at 8:00am and were back by noon. averaging a true 6 miles per hour.
We all enjoyed the ride as well as the two rest stops.
The finish line events, cheeseburgers, salad and ice cream were a great end of the ride treat for Katie, Jordan, and Tony....... Eric & Ed took off to complete the 100 mile loop before closing ceremonies!!!!!

Awesome job to all..........

CTF Training Ride and one week to go!

We had another solid Closer to Free training ride yesterday morning.  It was a very good group that did a 60 mile loop around New Haven, Guilford, Branford, and the coast.  Great scenery and a great ride with one week to go before the CT Challenge.

Saturday is the big day, so hopefully I can get some last minute miles in to get the legs ready for the century (I hear it is pretty hilly).  Did 250 total miles so far from the fourth of July until now so hopefully I will be ready come this weekend!

July 21st rail trail

Jordan and I rode New Haven to lock 12.
About 23 miles after a few loops and stops.

Jordans first time on the rail

Did it......20 +
YAHOOOOO.
