2013-8-31 Shooting the (Whirlwind) Monster in the Closet

Whirlwind is a monster of a hill in Connecticut. Many of us fear it. And then one day, Ed sent us an email suggesting we shoot this monster in the closet...

So we came with our weapons, made of carbon and steel. The monster leered at us but we pushed on...

Suddenly, Ed attacked! The monster groaned!

Next, Karen came swinging. She hardly broke a sweat. We knew then the monster was trembling...

And Diane attacked too! Five times! The monster began to wobble...

Victory was ours! It took 10 full-on strikes, but Whirlwind was vanquished. We will never fear you again. (Thanks, Ed, for suggesting this great ride.)

2013-08-11th and 13th Wildwood 55mi before breakfast

Rode 55 miles of flat roads in Wildwood New Jersey twice.  Both days were awesome, caught a little rain and lightning on the 13th.  the rain and lightning were ok but the flash floods during high tide......not so cool to ride in.  luckily it was only 10-15 minutes worth and then all got better. prayers work!!!!!!!

only sound was a gentle ripple of the water, even the sea gulls were still sleeping.

wide roads with wide bike lanes, no cars, and no wind either!!!!!!

Sun Rise at the entrance into Wildwood New Jersey, I was on my way out toward Atlantic City.

...
Cape May to Strathmere was far as I was able to ride between 5:00am and 9:00am.
Wildwood in the distance as I am on my way back...probably about 13-15 miles away in this view (by street)
Look at this....I'm the only one on the bridge, except for my shadow of course.  I tried to race my shadow but in this direction, it always won!.
had to get back by 9:00 so that we could all enjoy a family ride!!!!! too cool!!!!!, but the boys picked water parks over biking!
